Original VELUX roof window GBL is ideal for roofs with a roof pitch between 10° and 20° with tripple glazing.
The roof window VELUX GBL is a manually operated center-pivot window, which together with the flashing EDG was specially designed for installation in low-pitch roofs. Thus, it can be installed in roofs with a slope of 10°-20° and finally closes a gap where the installation of previous roof windows was not possible. The GBL roof window is made, like it is standard for Velux, from high quality pine wood and has a triple-coated white finish - so it will be suitable for installation in kitchens or bathrooms as well. The innovative "glass-to-edge technology" provides a seamless and impressive installation. The outer glass pane extends to the edge of the window and is not covered by an aluminum sheet, like most of the roof windows. This allows water to drain directly from the pane. The wind and water tightness has been confirmed by tests in the largest wind tunnel in Northern Europe.
GBL roof window features
- Additional seals in the sash and in the upper sheathing provide a waterproof construction
- Extension of the glass to the edge of the frame enables easy drainage of water
- Longer and extra wide flashing prevents water from collecting in the lower part of the window
- Specially designed flashing with an upward fold creates a water barrier and is triangular in cut to direct water away from the window
- A waterproof foam is installed between the three layers of glass, ensuring a tight bond between the layers and preventing water accumulation
- A felt under the flashing provides complete waterproofing and offers a package solution for low-slope roofs
- The aluminum profile provides a drainage system that runs away from the wing and not onto the window

Flashings
VELUX flashing: do I really need it?
Flashings are essential for the correct installation of roof windows. Precisely designed flashing details ensure a durable and neat fit with the roofing material used. The purpose of flashing is to ensure good drainage away from the window and to provide protection from the elements.
The special EDG flashing for this roof window is suitable for all roof coverings with a profile thickness of 15-120mm.
